Zero to Hundred vs CodeCanyon and Envato
CodeCanyon is part of Envato Market. It sells scripts and components, and the buyer pays the author's item price plus a fixed buyer fee. Since 1 July 2026, Envato's author fee is 50% of the item price. Zero to Hundred sells non-exclusive licenses to working software and is free to list. | Buyer license | The regular license grants one end product for the buyer or one client. Redistributing the item as stock, or with source files, is outside that license. Envato's pricing help splits a sale into a list price, a buyer fee, an item price, and an author fee. The author sets the item price. The list price shown to the buyer is the item price plus the buyer fee. The author fee is 50% of the item price. The author receives the rest of the item price, before taxes. Withholding tax can reduce that further. Envato's author terms say earnings are paid once unpaid earnings reach $50.
A worked example, using only those published rules and the PHP Scripts regular-license buyer fee of $5 from the fee table. If the author sets the item price at $20, the list price is $25, the author fee is $10, and the author receives $10 of the item price before taxes. A different category has a different buyer fee. It shows how the formula works and isn't a typical sale.
On Zero to Hundred, the Buyer pays the price on the listing with no buyer fee added. The commission comes out of the Builder's payout: 8% plus $0.50 when the Buyer arrived through the Builder's share link, or 25% when they found the listing on the marketplace. The first click on that link counts for 30 days. Processing fees and currency conversion costs may also be passed on under the Terms of Use, and they aren't part of the commission.
What license does the buyer get?
CodeCanyon's regular license grants an ongoing, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use the item to create one end product for the buyer or one client. It does not allow redistributing the item as stock, in a tool or template, or with source files. Selling that end product to the public is described as needing the extended license. Some items use the Tools License instead, which is for one copy of a tool or app and does not allow modifying it. The license on the item page is the one that applies.
A Buyer on Zero to Hundred receives a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to use, modify, and deploy the software, including in their own commercial products. The Buyer may not resell, re-list, sub-license, or redistribute the software as a product. The purchase does not include a business, customers, or revenue.
